OUR CONCRETE COATING INSTALLATION PROCESS
At Premium Decorative Concrete Coatings, the installation process for our concrete coating system starts with determining the type of concrete you have, based on its hardness, moisture content, and structural condition. Each of these variables contribute to how we approach the next and most important step—concrete coating preparation.
DIAMOND GRINDING
At Premium Decorative Concrete Coatings, we utilize the best technologies, products, and that includes our equipment - diamond grinding machines. We use course grit diamonds help us achieve the required profile to ensure proper bonding. Our diamond grinders consist of rotating heads and by varying the grits and bonds used, diamond grinders can be effective on differing concrete types. Diamond grinders are especially helpful when cracks or joints are at different profiles and need to be leveled.

STEP 1 – PREPARATION
Preparation includes diamond grinding the concrete floor to the desired profile. Dust is also minimized by having the grinders hooked up to vacuum systems at all times. Equipment also meet OSHA SILICA Rules.
STEP 2 – CONCRETE REPAIR (CRACKS AND PITS)
Premium Decorative Concrete utilizes filers to fix pits and cracks before the process begins. This ensures a solid foundation for our long-term concrete coatings finish.
STEP 3 – BASECOAT
Premium Decorative Concrete Coatings uses polyaspartic polyurea base coats that are properly mixed and applied to the floor to begin the concrete coating process.
STEP 4 – BROADCASTING THE CHIP
After the basecoat application, the chip is generously broadcast by hand, providing both color and texture to the floor.
STEP 5 – SCRAPING THE CHIP
Once the basecoat is fully cured the floor is scraped and vacuumed to remove any loose chip or vertical standing flakes.
STEP 6 – TOP COAT (CLEAR)
The final step is to roll out the UV stable polyaspartic clear coat. The top coat is chemical, rust and abrasion resistant. It is also antimicrobial and antibacterial.

The common misconception is that concrete has no maintenance. There is no doubt that concrete is a very hard-wearing, long-lasting product with low maintenance. So, when someone mentions maintenance, it often surprises people when the subject is brought up. However, properly maintaining your concrete through regular sealing or waxing every few years can greatly extend the life and beauty of it. Decorative Concrete can look as good as it did the day it was finished instead of dirty, faded and worn.
Due to the different make up and porous qualities of the concrete, the coating may not exactly match the pictures shown. This fact enables your job to become one-of-a-kind!

The truth: They can be, especially when wet or if a beverage was spilt, but no more so than vinyl, linoleum, marble or ceramic tile floors. In outdoor areas this issue is easily remedied by mixing a nonslip additive or a grit (sand) to the final top coat. Usually, around pool areas and sometimes outdoor patios are the most common places these remedies are used.
